U+tv Kids World is an IPTV platform service for children 2 – 6. The service is easy to use for older generations as well, and helps parents decrease concerns about their kids being exposed to harmful contents and reduce excessive viewing.
The service introduces character friends to help kids and parents communicate. The characters are incorporated into the design, and are featured in access screen to the Kids’ Mode, contents navigation system, viewing screen, and viewing habit education scenarios. In the service, kids and parents explore stories in a fantasy world in the TV. Various elements such as characters that say hello when users press the Kids’ Mode button, different space illustrations depending on menus, and animated elements hidden in the background make it fun to access and navigate the service.
The interface was designed around graphics and images to use the service with ease and full understanding. Visual contrasts were implemented in order to help users distinguish the current remote focus, normal buttons and background. The service also added background music, sound effects, and character voices, as well as animated motions to add vitality to the design.
U+tv 아이들나라는 2~6세 미취학 아이들을 대상으로 아이들이 재미있게 TV를 시청하면서도, 할머니 할아버지도 쉽게 사용할 수 있고, 부모에게는 유해 컨텐츠 노출 및 장시간 시청 등의 걱정을 줄여주는 어린이 전용 IPTV 플랫폼 서비스입니다.
부모와 아이의 소통을 돕는 캐릭터 친구들을 만들어 키즈 모드의 접근부터 컨텐츠 탐색, 시청, 시청 습관 기르기까지 캐릭터와 함께 TV 속 환상세계를 모험하는 스토리로 디자인되었습니다. 리모컨의 키즈 전용 버튼을 누르면 환영 인사를 하는 캐릭터와, 메뉴별로 각기 다른 재미있는 공간, 배경에 숨어있는 움직이는 요소들이 진입과 탐색을 즐겁게 해줍니다. 부모가 리모컨의 버튼을 누르면 TV 속에서 캐릭터가 나타나 '이번 편만 보자' 아이와 약속을 하고, 영상이 끝나면 TV용 화면보호기 영상이 재생되어 아이가 다른 행동을 취할 수 있도록 자연스럽게 유도해줍니다.
인터페이스는 아이부터 조부모까지 쉽게 이해하고 사용할 수 있도록 불필요한 텍스트 정보는 최소화하고 그래픽 이미지 위주로 디자인하였습니다. TV 사용성에서 중요한 역할 중 하나인 리모컨 Focus 를 쉽게 구분할 수 있도록 배경과의 시각적 차이를 주도록 디자인 프린시블을 정리하였습니다. 또한 BGM과 효과음, 캐릭터 목소리 등의 사운드와 움직이는 모션을 더하여 디자인에 생동감을 불어넣었습니다.
